«Μιλάς Εληνικά, απλώς δεν το ξέρεις»

Η συγγραφέας Άννα Στεφανίδου με το σκεπτικό να φέρει τους αγγλόφωνους πιο κοντά στη γλώσσα μας και να την εκτιμήσουν όπως της αξίζει παρουσίασε το πρώτο βιβλίο της από τις εκδόσεις Ιανός με τίτλο: «You speak Greek, you just don’t know it» («Μιλάς Εληνικά, απλώς δεν το ξέρεις»). Πρόκειται για μια πρωτότυπη παρουσίαση χιλιάδων ελληνικών λέξεων που υπάρχουν και χρησιμοποιούνται σήμερα στην αγγλική γλώσσα, χωρισμένες αλφαβητικά και θεματικά σε 3 στήλες, με την αγγλική λέξη, την αντίστοιχη ελληνική λέξη και την ελληνική λέξη με λατινικούς χαρακτήρες για να διαβάζεται εύκολα από τους ξένους.



Από το εξώφυλλο ακόμη, η συγγραφέας μας ενημερώνει για 6.000 λέξεις που χρησιμοποιούνται στα Αγγλικά. Μια έξυπνη ιδέα προβολής της ελληνικής γλώσσας που προτρέπει τους αγγλόφωνους να κατανοήσουν πόσο καλά γνωρίζουν τα Ελληνικά, αν και δεν το ξέρουν!

ΥΓ Μετά από πολύ ψάξιμο επί του θέματος,θέλω να τονίσω πως οι Ελληνικές λέξεις στην Αγγλική γλώσσα είναι πολύ περισσότερες από 6,000.Η συγγραφέας αναφέρεται στις πλέον διαδεδομένες και εύκολα αναγνωρίσιμες λέξεις.

Υπάρχουν πολλές αλλά κρυμμένες Ελληνικές λέξεις.
Για παράδειγμα η λέξη disaster που σημαίνει καταστροφή , βγαίνει απο το Δυσ - αστήρ , δηλαδή δυσοίωνος αστέρας , κακός οιωνός , κακό νέο η κακό σημείο.

Πανέξυπνη ιδέα θα έλεγα, ίσως βάλει σε σκέψεις αρκετούς. Γιατί απλά αυτή είναι μια αλήθεια που δεν την έχουν σκεφτεί...

Είναι εξαιρετικό βιβλίο και το θέμα πολύ σημαντικό. Είχε συζητηθεί εκτενώς όταν ο πρώην πρωθυπουργός κ Ξενοφών Ζολώτας είχε εκφωνήσει δύο λόγους στην Ουάσιγκτον (στις 26 Σεπτεμβρίου 1957 και στις 2 Οκτωβρίου 1959), ως Διοικητής της Τράπεζας της Ελλάδος. Οι λόγοι ήταν στα Αγγλικά αλλά όλες οι κύριες λέξεις ήταν Ελληνικές. Παρακάτω οι δύο ομιλίες:

"I always wished to address this Assembly in Greek, but realized that it would have been indeed "Greek" to all present in this room. I found out, however, that I could make my address in Greek which would still be English to everybody. With your permission, Mr. Chairman, l shall do it now, using with the exception of articles and prepositions, only Greek words.

"Kyrie, I eulogize the archons of the Panethnic Numismatic Thesaurus and the Ecumenical Trapeza for the orthodoxy of their axioms, methods and policies, although there is an episode of cacophony of the Trapeza with Hellas. With enthusiasm we dialogue and synagonize at the synods of our didymous organizations in which polymorphous economic ideas and dogmas are analyzed and synthesized. Our critical problems such as the numismatic plethora generate some agony and melancholy. This phenomenon is characteristic of our epoch. But, to my thesis, we have the dynamism to program therapeutic practices as a prophylaxis from chaos and catastrophe. In parallel, a Panethnic unhypocritical economic synergy and harmonization in a democratic climate is basic. I apologize for my eccentric monologue. I emphasize my euharistia to you, Kyrie to the eugenic arid generous American Ethnos and to the organizes and protagonists of his Amphictyony and the gastronomic symposia".



Kyrie, it is Zeus' anathema on our epoch (for the dynamism of our economies) and the heresy of our economic method and policies that we should agonize the Skylla of nomismatic plethora and the Charybdis of economic anaemia. It is not my idiosyncracy to be ironic or sarcastic but my diagnosis would be that politicians are rather cryptoplethorists. Although they emphatically stigmatize nomismatic plethora, they energize it through their tactics and practices. Our policies should be based more on economic and less on political criteria. Our gnomon has to be a metron between economic,strategic and philanthropic scopes. Political magic has always been anti-economic. In an epoch characterized by monopolies, oligopolies, monopolistic antagonism and polymorphous inelasticities, our policies have to be more orthological, but this should not be metamorphosed into plethorophobia, which is endemic among academic economists. Nomismatic symmetry should not antagonize economic acme. A greater harmonization between the practices of the economic and nomismatic archons is basic. Parallel to this,we have to synchronize and harmonize more and more our economic and nomismatic policies panethnically. These scopes are more practicable now, when the prognostics of the political and economic barometer are halcyonic. The history of our didimus organization on this sphere has been didactic and their gnostic practices will always be a tonic to the polyonymous and idiomorphous ethnical economies. The genesis of the programmed organization will dynamize these policies. Therefore, i sympathize, although not without criticism one or two themes with the apostles and the hierarchy of our organs in their zeal to program orthodox economic and nomismatic policies, although I have some logomachy with them.I apologize for having tyranized you with my Hellenic phraseology. In my epilogue, i emphasize my eulogy to the philoxenous aytochtons of this cosmopolitan metropolis and my encomium to you, Kyrie stenographers.

και η μετάφραση της δεύτερης ομιλίας:

Κύριοι, είναι "Διός ανάθεμα" στην εποχή μας και αίρεση της οικονομικής μας μεθόδου και της οικονομικής μας πολιτικής το ότι θα φέρναμε σε αγωνία την Σκύλλα του νομισματικού πληθωρισμού και τη Χάρυβδη της οικονομικής μας αναιμίας. Δεν είναι στην ιδιοσυγκρασία μου να είμαι ειρωνικός ή σαρκαστικός αλλά η διάγνωσή μου θα ήταν ότι οι πολιτικοί είναι μάλλον κρυπτοπληθωριστές. Αν και με έμφαση στιγματίζουν τον νομισματικό πληθωρισμό, τον ενεργοποιούν μέσω της τακτικής τους και των πρακτικών τους. Η πολιτική μας θα έπρεπε να βασίζεται περισσότερο σε οικονομικά και λιγότερο σε πολιτικά κριτήρια. Γνώμων μας πρέπει να είναι ένα μέτρο μεταξύ οικονομικής, στρατηγικής και φιλανθρωπικής σκοπιάς. Σε μια εποχή που χαρακτηρίζεται από μονοπώλια, ολιγοπώλια, μονοπωλιακό ανταγωνισμό και πολύμορφες ανελαστικότητες, οι πολιτικές μας πρέπει να είναι πιο ορθολογιστικές, αλλά αυτό δεν θα έπρεπε να μεταμορφώνεται σε πληθωροφοβία, η οποία είναι ενδημική στους ακαδημαϊκούς οικονομολόγους. Η νομισματική συμμετρία δεν θα έπρεπε να ανταγωνίζεται την οικονομική ακμή. Μια μεγαλύτερη εναρμόνιση μεταξύ των πρακτικών των οικονομικών και νομισματικών αρχόντων είναι βασική. Παράλληλα με αυτό, πρέπει να εκσυγχρονίσουμε και να εναρμονίσουμε όλο και περισσότερο τις οικονομικές και νομισματικές μας πρακτικές πανεθνικώς. Αυτές οι θεωρήσεις είναι πιο εφαρμόσιμες τώρα, που τα προγνωστικά του πολιτικού και οικονομικού βαρομέτρου είναι χάλκινα. Η ιστορία της δίδυμης οργάνωσης σε αυτήν την σφαίρα είναι διδακτική και οι γνωστικές τους εφαρμογές θα είναι πάντα ένα τονωτικό στις πολυώνυμες και ιδιόμορφες εθνικές οικονομίες. Η γένεση μιας προγραμματισμένης οργάνωσης θα ενισχύσει αυτές τις πολιτικές. Γι' αυτόν το λόγο αντιμετωπίζω με συμπάθεια, αλλά όχι χωρίς κριτική διάθεση, ένα ή δύο θέματα με τους αποστόλους της ιεραρχίας των οργάνων μας στον ζήλο τους να προγραμματίσουν ορθόδοξες οικονομικές και νομισματικές πολιτικές. Απολογούμαι που σας τυράννησα με την ελληνική μου φρασεολογία. Στον επίλογό μου δίνω έμφαση στην ευλογία μου, προς τους φιλόξενους αυτόχθονες αυτής της κοσμοπολίτικης μητρόπολης καθώς και το εγκώμιό μου προς εσάς, κύριοι στενογράφοι.

Συμπληρωματικά στην υπέροχη δημοσίευση του Απόστολου, να πω πως Ζολώτας είχε εκφωνίσει και έναν Ελληνο-γαλλικό λόγο. Ευκαιρία να μάθουμε και λίγα γαλικούλια!

Le Dedale Synchrone Du Cosmos Politique

Kyrie, Sans apostropher ma rhetorique dans l’ emphase et la plethore, j’ analyserai elliptiquement, sans nul gallicisme, le dedale synchrone du cosmos politique caracterise par des syndromes de crise paralysant l’ organisation systematique de notre economie. Nous sommes periodiquement sceptiques et neurastheniques devant ces paroxysmes periphrasiques, cette boulimie des demagogues, ces hyperboles, ces paradoxes hypocrites et cyniques qui symbolisent une democratie anachronique et chaotique. Les phenomenes fantastiques qu’on nous prophetise pour l’ epoque astronomique detroneront les programmes rachitiques, hybrides et sporadiques de notre cycle atomique. Seule une panacee authentique et draconienne metamorphosera cette agonie prodrome de l’ apocalypse et une genese homologue du Phenix. Les economistes technocrates seront les strateges d’ un theatre polemique et dynamique et non les proselytes du marasme. Autochtones helleniques, dans une apologie cathartique, psalmodions les theoremes de la democratie thesaurisante et heroique, soyons allergiques aux parasites allogenes dont les sophismes trop hyalins n’ ont qu’une pseudodialectique. En epilogue a ces agapes, mon amphore a l’ apogee, je prophetise toute euphorie et apotheose a Monsieur Giscard d’ Estaing, prototype enthousiasmant de la neo-orthodoxie economique et symbole de la palingenesie de son ethnie gallique.


Ακόμη , τη μοναδική ιδέα του Ξενοφώντα Ζολώτα, επανέλαβε σε διεθνές ιατρικό συνέδριο στη Ρόδο το 2001,ο καθηγητής Ορθοπεδικής του Πανεπιστημίου Ιωαννίνων, Παναγιώτης Σουκάκος.


«Τhe Ηellenic orthopedic physicians, have synchronized their dynamism and energy with the Εuropean Οrganization of Οrthopedics and Τraumatology, to generate this symbiotic and not ephemeral synthesis of charismatic, academic scholars, and are enthusiastic with the atmosphere of euphoria and analogous ecstasy in Dodecanisa, Rodos.

Rodos is a graphic Ηellenic metropolitan center in the Αegean archipelagos, with myriads of archaeological and historical sites. Rodos is a geographical paradise of cryptic and chimerical icons of idyllic charm, amalgamated with Ηellenic gastronomy of mousaka, souvlaki, ouzo emporia and euphoria of the rhyme and rhythm of bouzouki, Βyzantine and Spanoudakis music.

Α plethora of basic and didactic themes in the sphere of orthopedics and traumatology, such as trauma of the musculoskeletal system, arthroscopic and arthroplasty surgery, paediatric orthopedics, poly-trauma, podiatric surgery, carpus and dactylic surgery with traumatic and genetic anomalies, microsurgery, spondylopathies like scoliosis, kyphosis and spondylolithesis, osteoporosis and pharmacologic and prophylactic therapeutic policies will be emphasized.

Diagnostic methods and etiological therapy of traumatic, non-physiological and pathological syndromes, therapeutic schemes and strategies, will be analyzed and synthesized at this academic symposium on the basis of a democratic climate and with the scope of a non-dogmatic and egocentric dialogue, which Ι prophesize will be an historic phenomenon and paradigm of dynamic synergy and harmony between polyethnic orthopedic physicians of the Εuropean Εpirus.

Τo paraphrase, with the phobia and dilemma of being tautological, let me empasize that the logistics and machinations in this academic symposium, will generate the scheme and type of our harmonic synergy and syndesmosis.

Ρragmatically, it is my thesis and not hypothesis that the next phase and programmed orthopedic symposium in Ηelsinki which Ι eulogize will be as dynamic and with colossal kyros, as in Rodos, Ηellas.

Ι apologize for my eulogistic demagogy and if my etymological glossary is based on philosophic or symbolic metaphors and lexical hyperbole, please sympathize with me and Ι apologize for the idiosyncrasy of a zealous Ηellenic, practising orthopaedic physician who is also fanatically enthusiastic about the giant anode of Εuropean propaedutics and academics in orthopedics and traumatology».
