@Apostolos K the smell is good indeed (the best sandalwood for me is by TOBS) but I never had good shaving moments with this brand, especially the preshave cream really has the opposite effect it should have on me, it dries my skin and makes shaving really difficult.

Proraso Eucalyptus is a genuinely apo...calyptic soap when it comes to newbie wet shavers. I would never classify it under an "enemy-oriented material" umbrella. It packs a decent punch - all things considered (e.g. price, properties - quality - quantity for that given price).
Wet shaving, as all hobbies based mostly on consumption (juxtaposed to hobbies rather oriented to production, such as gardening, fishing or painting) is intrinsically connected to the notion of value for money - either our respectable companions accept it or not.
Hence, I accept that many may reckon a fragrance as appalling, but generalizing that individual feeling to a personal aversion that ends up engulfing a whole range of products, is another thing.

Mbakurin, what you say makes perfect sense. As I said, I'm Italian, my father taught me to shave with Proraso, it's probably the soap I used the most. I can definitely suggest it to a newbie but the second soap should be something a bit more expensive (we're talking in the 10 euros range here, no need for a MdC) because from my experience it will have good properties that for me Proraso is lacking.

@LokiDK ciao, sei italiano?
